Jordan Hill Roman Temple

The first excavations of Jordan Hill Roman Temple began in 1843 and found a number of coins thought to date back to the 4th century AD. These suggested that the area had been inhabited since at least then. The greatest discovery, however, was the foundations of a pagan temple. This showed that pagan traditions re-emerged towards the end of the Roman rule in Britain.
